Descending on the capital city of Freetown a decade after Sierra Leone's civil war, members of the Sierra Leone Indigenous Traditional Healers Union (SLITHU) unearthed countless "witch guns," apprehended dozens of malevolent witches, and endeavored to rehabilitate culprits as productive citizen herbalists. It was a great surprise to me to find in Constantinople the large number of TekkCs (Tekiyas or Zawiyahs), which a recent investigation revealed.There are now according to official information 258 Dervish Houses in the city.A few years ago there were 319.T h e great fires have wiped out 61 Tekkes within a period of ten or a dozen years.T h e following list to date comprises 17 different Orders
