Three related studies of the impact of variations in classroom and field experiences on preservice students' knowledge, skill, and reflectiveness are reported. In the first study the effects of a videotape of teaching strategies and seminars were compared with a live demonstration of the teaching strategies and seminar. Using Cooperative Learning with Preservice Elementary and Secondary Education Students
On the basis of their experiences in more than 35 courses, the authors present recommenda tions for the use of cooperative learning with preservice teachers. Research on the use of cooperative learning in higher education is briefly outlined. Nine cooperative learning strategies are described, and examples of topics and implementation procedures are dis cussed.
