  • Integrative approaches to the study of animal management practices during the Neolithic of South Iberian Peninsula

    Open Access•Navarrete, Vanessa Navarrete et al.•ARTICLE•Archaeological and Anthropological…•2024•Citada por: 5•Referencias: 64

The introduction and adoption of livestock played a pivotal role in shaping subsistence strategies of populations in the southern Iberian Peninsula during the Neolithic. However, there is lack of information regarding animal management strategies, such as grazing areas and changes in foddering strategies, and their correlation with the environmental characteristics, type of site and use of the settlement. The study of feeding strategies of domest…

  • Radiometric dates and micromorphological evidence for synchronous domestic activity and sheep penning in a Neolithic cave

  • Cueva de El Toro (Antequera, Malaga-Spain)

Open Access•Maria Dolores Camalich, Ramón Buxó et al.•ARTICLE•Documenta Praehistorica•2004

The occupation evidence shown by the cave El Toro, is that of a unique stockbreeding community in the Andalusian region. The calibrated dates for this occupation period go from the second quarter of the sixth millennium up to the second millennium BP. There is also evidence of occasional occupation throughout later millennia up to the Hispano-Muslim period. The nature of thisoccupation is determined by the close link between the cave and the comm…

  • The Neolithic in Almeria

    Open Access•Maria Dolores Camalich, Dimas Martín-Socas et al.•ARTICLE•Documenta Praehistorica•2004•Citada por: 1

The valley of Almanzora River and Vera Basin (Almeria) shows an intense dynamics of occupation in Prehistory; particulalry between the Early Neolithic and the Late Bronze Age. Several factors, such as recurrent associations betwen diverse productions - including the presence of cardial-impresed in Cabacicos Negros (Vera) - and the distinctive characteristics of the type of accupation, indicate that the oldest phase of occupation took place during…

  • Changes in carbon isotope discrimination in grain cereals from different regions of the western Mediterranean Basin during the past seven millennia. Palaeoenvironmental evidence of a differential chan…

Open Access•J L Araus, Anna Febrero et al.•ARTICLE•Global Change Biology•1997

Carbon isotope discrimination (Δ) was determined for kernels of six‐row barley and durum wheat cultivated in the western Mediterranean basin during the last seven millennia. Samples came from different archaeological sites in Catalonia (north‐east Spain) and in the south‐east of Spain (mainly eastern Andalusia). Samples from the present were also analysed. Mean values of Δ for barley and durum wheat grains decreased slightly from Neolithic (7000–…
