Late Quaternary relative humidity changes from Mt. Kilimanjaro, based on a coupled 2H-18O biomarker paleohygrometer approach
Early pottery in Transbaikal Siberia
Stable isotope (δ13C, δ15N, δ18O) record of soils in Buryatia, southern Siberia
The late Pleistocene glaciation in the Bogchigir Valleys (Pamir, Tajikistan) based on 10 Be surface exposure dating
Glacial chronologies from the Pamir may not only provide insights into past changes in temperature, but also into past changes in precipitation related to the northern-hemispheric westerlies and the monsoonal circulation. We present 18 new exposure ages from the Bogchigir Valleys that complement and refine our previous studies in these valleys. The most extensive dated glaciation in the area occurred ~ 100 ka, during Marine Oxygen Isotope Stage (…
Late Quaternary soil genesis and vegetation history on the northern slopes of Mt. Kilimanjaro, East Africa
A reply to D. Kröhling and M. Iriondo’s comment on “Genesis of subtropical soils with stony horizons in NE Argentina
Late Quaternary environmental changes in Misiones, subtropical NE Argentina, deduced from multi-proxy geochemical analyses in a palaeosol-sediment sequence
Geological, pedological and paleomagnetic study of the late Cenozoic sedimentary sequence in southwestern Uruguay, South America
Late Quaternary glacial and climate history of the Pamir Mountains derived from cosmogenic 10 Be exposure ages
Moraines southwest of Lake Yashilkul, Pamir, Tajikistan, were dated using 10 Be exposure ages of boulder surfaces. We found evidence for (1) an extensive glaciation ∼60,000 yr ago; (2) a less extensive glacial advance, which deposited a characteristic hummocky moraine lobe with exposure ages ranging from ∼11,000 to 47,000 yr, probably deposited at or before 47,000 yr ago; and (3) lateral moraines with exposure ages of ∼40,000 yr, 27,000 yr and 19…

Soil genesis and landscape evolution along a toposequense of Rio Araguari, Central Brazil
Soil genesis and landscape evolution along a toposequense of Rio Araguari, Central Brazil
Site conditions and nutrient status ofCordeauxia edulis (Caesalpiniaceae) in its natural habitat in Central Somalia
Mineral Content and Food Quality of Plants on Representative Sites in the Callawaya Mountains, Bolivia
The Callawaya Mountains, about 200 km north of La Paz, Bolivia, are used for agriculture up to about 4,000 m eleva- tion. The highlands are intensively grazed by llamas and alpacas. Following a short description of the vegetation and soils, the mineral content and the nutritive value of plant samples are presented. At the end of the dry season there is a clear deficiency in P, K, and Mg in the fodder of the highlands. The shrub leaves provide bet…
