Proxy Sources for Information on Nursing Home Residents' Quality of Life
Although staff and family proxy domain scores are significantly correlated with resident scores, the level of correlation suggests they cannot simply be substituted for resident reports of QOL. Determining how proxy reports can be used for residents who cannot be interviewed at all remains an unresolved challenge

The Substitutability of Adult Foster Care for Nursing Home Care in Oregon
OBJECTIVES: This study investigates the degree of substitutability of adult foster care for nursing home care in Oregon. We describe data from a convenience sample of 48 case management programs, illustrating variation in both program features and costs. Case management varied in practice and in ways that affect both the cost of case management and the costs of services being managed. Lessons for social work from the medical model
This article reveals the potential usefulness of the “medical model” for social work practitioners. The author outlines methods of the medical approach that can be used to improve social services and to avoid wasteful or harmful practice and suggests that social workers who have negative attitudes about the medical model need to reconsider their attitudes

Determination of Health Care Expectations among Navajo Consumers
A sample of 271 Navajo respondents were interviewed by Navajos to assess their attitudes toward major health problems on the reservation and problems with the health service they were receiving. Health problems identified were primarily disease states such as alcoholism and upper respiratory tract infections.
