  • Spatial patterning and occupation dynamics during the Early Holocene in an archaeological site from the south coast of Tierra del Fuego

Open Access•Atilio Francisco Zangrando, Hein Bjerck et al.•ARTICLE•Estudios Atacameños Arqueología y…•2019•Citada por: 4•Referencias: 9

We explore the implications of the spatial structure of the artifact assemblages at the Binushmuka I site, located in the north coast of the Beagle Channel (Tierra del Fuego). Considering the expectations derived from ethno-archaeological models concerning settlement patterns, we assume here that the spatial distribution of artifacts, which mainly depend on the number and duration of the occupations and the size of the group, can be used to evalu…

  • Palaeogeographic changes drove prehistoric fishing practices in the Cambaceres Bay (Tierra del Fuego, Argentina) during the middle and late Holocene

Atilio Francisco Zangrando, Atilio Francisco J Zangrando et al.•ARTICLE•Environmental Archaeology•2016•Citada por: 1•Referencias: 4

Fishing intensification is evidenced in the archaeological record of the Beagle Channel region (Tierra del Fuego, Argentina) during the late Holocene by significant diachronic increases in both the representation of coastal taxa and the diversity of pelagic fish species taken. Faunal evidence from the Imiwaia I site, however, shows a different pattern in temporal variation in the exploitation of coastal fish in contrast to that of the regional tr…

  • Chemical analyses of the earliest pigment residues from the uttermost part of the planet (Beagle Channel region, Tierra del Fuego, Southern South America)

Open Access•D Fiore, Markus Maier et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Archaeological Science•2008•Citada por: 15•Referencias: 3

  • Archaeological analysis of shell middens in the Beagle Channel, Tierra del Fuego Island

Open Access•Jordi Estevez, Jordi Estévez Escalera et al.•ARTICLE•International Journal of…•2001•Citada por: 5•Referencias: 2

An archaeological programme beginning in 1993, in the Beagle Channel, aims to describe the long-term record of maritime faunal exploitation, and relate it to the environmental record. Results from quantitative analysis of remains from a series of shell midden excavations indicate a remarkably stable and resilient marine biota over the last 6500 years. Only in the previous century have there been changes in fauna, which might correspond to recent …
