  • Convenience Sample

    Open Access•Clifford E Lunneborg•OTHER•The Blackwell Encyclopedia of…•2007•Citada por: 1

Convenience samples are best described as what they are not. They are non‐probability samples. That is, no attempt is made in their construction to sample randomly from any well‐defined population. Random sampling is almost always difficult and expensive, often prohibitively so. Convenience samples, as the name implies, are more easily obtained. They may be self‐selected respondents to a mail‐out survey. Or they may be readily to hand, patrons of…

  • Markedly Early Entrance to College: A Multi-Year Comparative Study of Academic Performance and Psychological Adjustment

Paul M Janos, Nancy M Robinson et al.•ARTICLE•The Journal of Higher Education•1989•Referencias: 15

Across the country, there are very bright twelve-, thirteen-, and fourteen-year-olds who might, with reasonable effort, successfully initiate college-level studies. Many reasons exist why they generally do not, including the paucity of higher education opportunities for them [6] and, perhaps more fundamentally, widespread, deeply rooted, and frequently reasonable concerns about the hazards of rushing development. In individual cases, however, suc…

  • Bootstrap Applications for the Behavioral Sciences

    Open Access•Clifford E Lunneborg•ARTICLE•Educational and Psychological…•1987

BOOTSTRAP APPLICATIONS is a book supported by personal computer programs. It introduces the method of bootstrap inference and provides complete support for applying the bootstrap to common data analyses

  • Efron's Bootstrap with Application to the Repeated Measures Design

    Clifford E Lunneborg, James P Tousignant•ARTICLE•Multivariate Behavioral Research•1985

The traditional univariate ANOVA for the repeated measures or split-plot design, commonly used in the behavioral sciences, requires, in addition to the usual assumptions of error normality and variance homogeneity, that the covariance matrix for the repeated measures have a special form (Type H). Because detection of lack of compliance with these assumptions is problematic, this design is a good candidate for alternative analysis. This paper illu…

  • Improved Counseling Information Through Rotation of Discriminant Functions

    Open Access•Clifford E Lunneborg, Patricia W Lunneborg•ARTICLE•Educational and Psychological…•1978

Results of discriminant analyses are of restricted value in the counseling setting because discriminant functions often lack psychological interpretability. Proposed is a technique for obtaining rotated discriminant function scores which should have the clarity of meaning as do rotated factors from factor analyses. This technique is successfully illustrated with data for the prediction of graduating college majors from aptitude, achievement and i…

  • Some Information-Processing Correlates Of Measures Of Intelligence

    Clifford E Lunneborg•ARTICLE•Multivariate Behavioral Research•1978

Measures of verbal and non-verbal intelligence, both group and individually administered, were related to a set of laboratory-based measures of human information processing. Speeded non-verbal intelligence (WAIS Performance IQ) and verbal comprehension (group administered vocabulary tests) were most highly predictable. While high performance IQ was associated with greater right hemisphere efficiency in processing non-linguistic stimuli, those hig…

  • Comparison Of Oblique And Orthogonal Simple Structure Solutions For Personality And Interest Factors

Gilbert Atkinson, Clifford E Lunneborg et al.•ARTICLE•Multivariate Behavioral Research•1968

The study was directed to the need to structure in a few variables the domain measured by personality and interest measures commonly employed in educational counseling: Strong, Kuder, EPPS and the Study of Values. Despite initial uncertainty regarding number of factors to be employed, effects of ipsative scores and of mixing test formats, both an oblique and orthogonal rotation yielded nearly identical results. Of the twenty factors identified by…
