Only two republics have ever adopted national alcohol prohibition in peacetime, and they did so at almost exactly the same time. For these reasons and others, historians of temperance have considered prohibition in Finland and the United States to be essentially similar. Haiman (1983) has argued that the phonological weight of reflexives within many languages is determined by the type of verb that they are coupled with. Social Context Effects on Story Recall in Older and Younger Women
The story-recall performance of older and younger women was examined within an oral story-retelling context with two listener conditions. Forty-eight older women (M age = 67.81 years; SD = 2.62) and 47 younger women (M age = 20.47 years; SD = 1.53) were asked to learn one of two stories with the goal to retell the story from memory either to an experimenter or to a young child. Mixed groups of immigrant and non-immigrant trainee bus conductors were given training in the detection of hazards in traffic situations, using two different methods of instruction: a conventional lecture method and a discovery training method. Trainability assessments for apprentice selection in shipbuilding
Trainability assessments were designed for predicting apprentice performance in four skills in the shipbuilding industry. The results showed that the assessments were successful in predicting performance after a three‐month period in the skill for which they were designed. Age and sex differences in the number and variety of vocational choices, preferences and aspirations
In this study 646 children between the ages of 11 and 17 years of age were asked to state their vocational choices, preferences and aspirations. It was found that the children were able to distinguish between these categories.
