The Production and Distribution of Classic Mimbres Black-on-White Pottery
Because the most abundant and finest quality Classic Mimbres Black-on-white ceramics are associated with large pueblos located in the Mimbres Valley, archaeologists have subscribed to a center-periphery model of exchange to explain the occurrence of these ceramics outside of the 'heartland.' Sensitivity, Precision, and Accuracy
Differences in analytical sensitivity, precision, and accuracy exist among techniques and laboratories involved in the chemical analysis of archaeological ceramics. Large differences in these analytical parameters become significant in the formulation of data bases where comparability of the data is being sought. Small differences become significant when comparing pottery produced from clay resources located within a discrete geological environme…
The Formation of Ceramic Analytical Groups
The formation of ceramic analytical groups based on compositional, technological, and stylistic analyses enables us to begin modeling the conditions of production and exchange that affected Hopi potters between A.C. 1300 and 1600. The present study indicates that intervillage and intravillage production units can be isolated for pueblos located on adjacent mesas in NE Arizona. An Archaeological Survey of the Orme Reservoir
This report is a statement concerning the assessed impact of the proposed Orme Reservoir on the archaeological resources. The Orme Reservoir is one phase of the Bureau of Reclamation's Central Arizona Project plan to impound and distribute water from the Colorado River to central and southern Arizona.
