How does climate change affect inclusive growth in African countries
L’urbanisation en Afrique
The use of Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) in Africa has increased considerably over the past two decades, and has been the subject of an extremely fruitful literature. The ICT penetration rate has been accelerated by education and especially the improvement of energy supply. In this article, we examine their effect on the urbanization rate observed from a sample of 52 African countries. To do this, we specify and estimate a pan…
Alcohol consumption in developing countries
The use of information and communication technologies (ICTs) has generated a rich literature. In this paper, we examine the effect of ICT use on alcohol consumption in a sample of 120 developing countries. To do so, we specify and estimate a panel data model first by pooled ordinary least squares (POLS) and second by feasible generalised least squares (F‐GLS) over the period 2000–2020. The robustness of the results is tested by using the system g…
Migrant Remittances and Conflicts in Sub-Saharan African Countries
This article assesses the effect of migrant remittances (MR) on conflicts in Sub-Saharan Africa. From a sample of 45 countries, we specify and estimate a panel data model using the two-way fixed effects method (TWFE) whose robustness is proven by the system generalized method of moments (S-GMM) and the lagged explanatory variables method (LEVM) over the period from 2000 to 2020. Two main results emerge. Firstly, MR significantly increases conflic…
Female participation in African labor markets
This article investigates the effects of information and communication technologies (ICT) on female labor force participation in a sample of 48 African countries. We specify and estimate linear regression and dynamic panel data models with fixed effects (FE) and system-generalized method of moments (SYS-GMM) estimation over the period 2001–2017. The three main results are that ICT use (mobile phone and internet) significantly stimulates female la…
Toutef…
