Differences in cigarette smoking portend substantial ongoing and future disparities in life expectancy and time to reach 5% smoking prevalence. Reducing tobacco-related disparities in the U.S. will require an explicitly equity-focused vision, and the tobacco endgame will only be truly achieved when it includes all groups
Projected Life Expectancy for Adolescents With HIV in the US
This adolescent-focused microsimulation modeling analysis projected that youth with HIV would have shorter life expectancy than youth without HIV. Projected differences were larger for youth with NPHIV compared with youth with PHIV. Differences in mortality by sex at birth, sexual behavior, and injection drug use contributed to lower projected life expectancy among youth with NPHIV. Interventions focused on HIV care and social factors are needed …

Area-level deprivation and preterm birth
Even among commercially-insured women, area-level deprivation was associated with increased risk of preterm birth. Similar to individual socioeconomic status, area-level deprivation does not have a threshold effect. Implementation of policies to reduce area-level deprivation, and the screening and treatment of maternal mediators may be associated with a lower risk of preterm birth
The effects of acculturation and environment on lifestyle behaviors in Korean immigrants
In our study, acculturation and environmental support for physical activity and healthy food simultaneously influenced KIs' lifestyle behaviors. Addressing an unhealthy body image and acculturative stress may be additional strategies for lifestyle intervention programs to prevent cardiometabolic diseases in KIs
