  • Aversive racism, gentrification, and graffiti studies

    Open Access•John Lennon•ARTICLE•Dialogues in Urban Research•2023

Bloch and Meyer's article argues that critical gentrification studies need to stop being beholden to mapping and counting of dislocated bodies, focusing mostly on “measuring the invisible,” and instead should understand displacement as an ongoing phenomenon, one that not only removes bodies from an environment, but is materially felt within spaces through technologies of racial discrimination, exclusion, and delinquency. This commentary relates t…

Gilles Tiberghien, John Lennon et al.•ARTICLE•Tourism Geographies•2022•Citada por: 6•Referencias: 48

To date, there has been limited research concerning the methodology and approach to Gulag heritage and how it has been memorialised and commodified for tourism purposes. • The history of dark tourism

Rudi Hartmann, John Lennon et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Tourism History•2018•Citada por: 4

It may be categorically unpleasant to visit cemeteries, crash sites, and death camps, but tourists queue up to see such places. Scholars have been attempting to explain this fascination with the macabre and morbid since the mid-1990s. Early analyses of dark tourism highlighted the modern and postmodern motivations underlying this novel form of travel. As a result, much of the subsequent work on this phenomenon has concentrated on contemporary vis…
