  • The genetic landscape of neuro-related proteins in human plasma

Open Access•Luca Repetto, Jiantao Chen et al.•ARTICLE•Nature Human Behaviour•2024•Referencias: 70

  • Association of Dietary Patterns with MRI Markers of Hepatic Inflammation and Fibrosis in the Mast4HEALTH Study

    Open Access•Athina I Amanatidou, Andriana C Kaliora et al.•ARTICLE•International Journal of…•2022

Whereas the etiology of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) is complex, the role of nutrition as a causing and preventive factor is not fully explored. The aim of this study is to associate dietary patterns with magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) parameters in a European population (Greece, Italy, and Serbia) affected by NAFLD. For the first time, iron-corrected T1 (cT1), proton density fat fraction (PDFF), and the liver inflammation fibrosis…

  • The mountainous Cretan dietary patterns and their relationship with cardiovascular risk factors

Open Access•Aliki‐Eleni Farmaki, Nigel William Rayner et al.•ARTICLE•Public Health Nutrition•2017

Objective We carried out de novo recruitment of a population-based cohort (MANOLIS study) and describe the specific population, which displays interesting characteristics in terms of diet and health in old age, through deep phenotyping. Design Cross-sectional study where anthropometric, biochemical and clinical measurements were taken in addition to interview-based completion of an extensive questionnaire on health and lifestyle parameters. Dieta…

  • Genetic evidence of assortative mating in humans

    Open Access•M R Robinson, Aaron Kleinman et al.•ARTICLE•Nature Human Behaviour•2017•Citada por: 23•Referencias: 49

  • Exclusive olive oil consumption has a protective effect on coronary artery disease; overview of the THISEAS study

Open Access•Maria Dimitriou, Loukianos S Rallidis et al.•ARTICLE•Public Health Nutrition•2016

Objective The aims of the current report are to present the demographic characteristics, clinical characteristics/biochemical indices and lifestyle habits of the population and to explore the potential association of exclusive olive oil consumption, in relation to lifestyle factors, with coronary artery disease risk. Design Demographic, lifestyle, dietary and biochemical variables were recorded. Logistic regression analysis was performed in order…

  • Geographic distribution of ATP7B mutations in Wilson disease

Open Access•Amanda Gomes, Amanda Pereira Gomes et al.•ARTICLE•Annals of Human Biology•2016

CONTEXT: Geographic distribution of ATP7B mutations in different populations. OBJECTIVE: To summarise common mutations in the ATP7B gene and graphically illustrate their prevalence in different populations. METHODS: A literature search was done using PubMed and the Wilson Disease Mutation Database (http://www.wilsondisease.med.ualberta.ca/database). RESULTS: p.His1069Gln is the most prevalent mutation seen in Europe. In the Mediterranean countrie…

  • Genetic studies of body mass index yield new insights for obesity biology

Open Access•The Lifelines Cohort Study, Adam E Locke et al.•ARTICLE•Nature•2015

  • Body composition and eating behaviours in relation to dieting involvement in a sample of urban Greek adolescents from the Teenage (Teens of Attica

Open Access•Ioanna Ntalla, Ιωάννα Ντάλλα et al.•ARTICLE•Public Health Nutrition•2014

Objective To document the prevalence of dieting and to compare body composition markers, dietary intakes and eating behaviours across dieting categories. Design Prospective, cross-sectional study. Setting Twenty-four randomly selected secondary public schools located in Attica, Greece. Subjects Anthropometric, medical and dietary information was obtained from 857 (54·9 % females) adolescents (mean age 13·4 ( sd 0·9) years). Meal patterns, eating …

  • GWAS of 126,559 Individuals Identifies Genetic Variants Associated with Educational Attainment

    Open Access•Cornelius A Rietveld, Sarah E Medland et al.•ARTICLE•Science•2013

Genetic College Many genomic elements in humans are associated with behavior, including educational attainment. In a genome-wide association study including more than 100,000 samples, Rietveld et al. (p. 1467 , published online 30 May; see the Perspective by Flint and Munafò ) looked for genes related to educational attainment in Caucasians. Small genetic effects at three loci appeared to impact educational attainment.
