  • Effectiveness of Sars-CoV-2 vaccines against Omicron infection and severe events

Open Access•Shangchen Song, Zachary J Madewell et al.•ARTICLE•Frontiers in Public Health•2023

  • The effect of travel restrictions on the spread of the 2019 novel coronavirus (Covid-19) outbreak

Open Access•Matteo Chinazzi, Jessica T Davis et al.•ARTICLE•Science•2020

Outbreak to pandemic In response to global dispersion of severe acute respiratory syndrome–coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2), quarantine measures have been implemented around the world. To understand how travel and quarantine influence the dynamics of the spread of this novel human virus, Chinazzi et al. applied a global metapopulation disease transmission model to epidemiological data from China. They concluded that the travel quarantine introduced in …

  • Modelling the impact of testing, contact tracing and household quarantine on second waves of Covid-19

    Open Access•Alberto Aleta, David Martín-Corral et al.•ARTICLE•Nature Human Behaviour•2020•Citada por: 12•Referencias: 21

  • Containing Pandemic Influenza at the Source

Open Access•Ira M Longini, Azhar Nizam et al.•ARTICLE•Science•2005

Highly pathogenic avian influenza A (subtype H5N1) is threatening to cause a human pandemic of potentially devastating proportions. We used a stochastic influenza simulation model for rural Southeast Asia to investigate the effectiveness of targeted antiviral prophylaxis, quarantine, and pre-vaccination in containing an emerging influenza strain at the source. If the basic reproductive number ( R 0 ) was below 1.60, our simulations showed that a …

  • The ecological effects of individual exposures and nonlinear disease dynamics in populations

    James S Koopman, Ira M Longini•ARTICLE•American Journal of Public Health•1994•Citada por: 27•Referencias: 22

To describe causally predictive relationships, model parameters and the data used to estimate them must correspond to the social context of causal actions. Causes may act directly upon the individual, during a contact between individuals, or upon a group dynamic. Assuming that outcomes in different individuals are independent puts the causal action directly upon individuals. Analyses making this assumption are thus inappropriate for infectious di…

  • Estimates of the US health impact of influenza

Kevin M Sullivan, Arnold S Monto et al.•ARTICLE•American Journal of Public Health•1993•Citada por: 2•Referencias: 12

OBJECTIVES. Data from the Tecumseh Community Health Study were used to estimate excess morbidity owing to influenza, and results were compared with estimates made previously using different methodology for an Institute of Medicine report. METHODS. Study participants from Tecumseh, Michigan, were classified as infected or noninfected based on laboratory results. The excess numbers of respiratory illnesses, respiratory illness days, and bed and res…
