It is proposed that the cistern of the Cathedral of Tarragona may have functioned as an ice well, linked to the historical ice trade in the Camp de Tarragona region. Its geometric features and volumetry are consistent with this use, according to previous studies and historical documentation. The article analyzes this structure to determine its chronology and possible functions, seeking to resolve this typological uncertainty. Laser scanning and t…

  • Systematization proposal for the analysis of columns from point clouds

Open Access•Agustí Costa-Jover, Amparo Núñez Andrés et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Cultural Heritage•2024

The research is framed in the significant development of massive data capture techniques in the 21st century, with point clouds becoming essential in various fields. In the context of architectural heritage, this topographical information is particularly useful in identifying and analysing formal anomalies, among many other applications. The study focuses on systematizing the analysis of columns, vital structural elements with diverse formal defi…

  • Metric study of the Romanesque architecture of Aran Valley

Sergio Coll-Pla, Josep Lluis Guuinovart et al.•ARTICLE•Church archaeology•2022

The Romanesque architecture of the Aran Valley is characterised by its invariance over time since its construction, fostered by its isolation and climate. This architecture has earned the interest of scholars such as Domenech i Montaner, Puig i Cadafalch, and Bassegoda Nonell, among others. Domenech i Montaner was the first to catalogue this architecture, focusing on the churches. The objective of this study is to delve into the geometric basis o…

  • Excavations in York, 1972–1973

    Open Access•P V Addyman, Paul C Buckland et al.•ARTICLE•The Antiquaries Journal•1974•Citada por: 8•Referencias: 2

The first year's campaign of rescue excavations by York Archaeological Trust is described. A sewer and part of a substantial building, perhaps the baths, were located within the Roman legionary fortress, and the sequence of defensive ditches on the south-west front was examined. Extra-mural settlement near the fortress was also examined in two places. Four small trenches in the heart of Anglo-Scandinavian York revealed 10 m of deposits including …
