Interality as a Key to Deciphering Guiguzi
This article applies interality as a hermeneutic to a reassessment of Chinese rhetorical practice influenced by Guiguzi, China’s earliest treatise on the art of persuasion. Continuing controversy in Western studies and translations surrounds both Chinese rhetoric and the rhetorical value of Guiguzi. Examines genres and representations of gender in the Wisdom of Solomon and its counterparts in selected works of the Pre-Socratic philosophers, the Hebrew Scriptures, particularly Ecclesiastes, and Paul’s letters to the Romans and Corinthians.
