    Open Access•K Alexander, S B Carswell et al.•ARTICLE•AIDS Care•2026

As people living with HIV/AIDS (PLWHA) live longer, they increasingly rely on informal caregivers. African American caregivers of PLWHA may face elevated risk for stress-related health problems from caregiving demands, HIV-related stigma, racial discrimination, and limited access to culturally responsive services. • Tasting Red, Hearing Silk

    Open Access•K Alexander•ARTICLE•American Anthropologist•2025•Referencias: 17

This article examines synesthesia as a mode of perception by exploring its implications for culinary labor, specifically how chefs navigate multisensory experience in the high‐pressure environment of professional kitchens. These debates are staged across a range of scales and sites-from individual decisions made in front of refrigerators and compost bins to public deliberations on the U.S. Senate and House floors. They often manifest as a moral panic inspiring a range of Americans at seemingly opposed ends of the political spectrum. This article cont…

  • Framing the Future

    R Bozick, K Alexander et al.•ARTICLE•Social Forces•2010

This study revisits the Wisconsin model of status attainment from a life course developmental perspective. Fixed-effects regression analyses lend strong support to the Wisconsin framework's core proposition that academic performance and significant others' influence shape educational expectations. However, investigating the process of expectation formation back to the elementary grades yields insights not evident when analyses are limited to the …

  • Influencing medication adherence among women with Aids

    Diana L Jones, M Ishii et al.•ARTICLE•AIDS Care•2003

This study examined the effects of a ten-session cognitive-behavioural stress management/expressive supportive therapy (CBSM+) intervention on adherence to antiretroviral medication. Although the intervention was not designed to influence adherence, it was theorized that improved coping and social support could enhance adherence. Women with AIDS (N = 174) in Miami, New York and New Jersey, USA, were randomized to a group CBSM+ intervention or ind…
