A Call to Action for Health Disparities in Boys and Men
The authors reflect on health disparities which are seen in boys and men in the U.S. who are members of racial or ethnic minority groups or socioeconomically disadvantaged groups. They suggest that health disparities in males have been understudied despite the fact that they warrant attention. African Americans experience HIV and AIDS at a rate 10 times greater than the U.S. White population. Substance Abuse, Disabilities, and Black Women
This paper presents information on the incidence and causes of substance abuse and disabilities in Black women, identifying common problems and risks. Drug abuse is technically a disability; however, there is little in the literature that jointly addresses issues of drug addiction and disability. Equitable participation by minorities in educational research and development (R & D) is a subject that has been of increasing concern in recent years. Students' Expectations Involving Parents' Contact Comfort, Duration of Child's Appropriate Behavior, and Child's Age
College students (24 men, 24 women) expected parents to wait a longer time for a child to continue to exhibit an appropriate response before initiating contact comfort with the child as the child grows older. If college students' expectations reflect reality, the obtained result supports the suggestion that appropriate behavior by a child is followed by parents initiating contact comfort on a variable-ratio schedule in which the size of the mean …
