The euthanasia decision-making process
The purpose of this study was to explore and assess bereaved companion animal (CA) owners’ (N = 672) responses to a question about the decision to euthanize their animal. Content analysis revealed four major themes: grief without guilt (73%); euthanasia as appropriate decision, accompanied by guilt and/or ambivalence (22%); sole expression of guilt (6%); and veterinarian collaboration with decision (32%). Although military sexual trauma (MST) has been found to be associated with sexual dysfunction (SD), there is limited information about the demographic, health, and traumatic experience factors related to SD symptoms among veterans who have experienced MST.
