Methane emission hotspots in a boreal forest-fen mosaic potentially linked to deep taliks
Permafrost thaw is transforming boreal forests into mosaics of wetlands and drier uplands. Topographic controls on hydrological and ecological conditions impact methane (CH 4 ) fluxes, contributing to uncertainty in local and regional CH 4 budgets and underlying drivers. The objective of this study was to explore CH 4 fluxes and their drivers in a transitioning boreal forest-fen ecosystem (Goldstream Valley, Alaska, USA). This landscape is charac…

Harold Innis as Political Theorist
James Mackintosh, Burke, and the Cause of Reform
IN 1791 JAMES MACKINTOSH published his Vindiciae Gallicae, and his work was accounted by most of those who supported parliamentary reform to be the best of the many replies to Burke's Reflections. Burke maintained that he had not read it, but that he had Richard Burke's authority that it was Paine at bottom. By 1796, however, Mackintosh's enthusiasm for the French cause had begun to wane, and in December of that year he had his famous interview w…
