Parole Work in Canada
Internationally, parole work is loaded with tensions, particularly when supervising a people convicted of sex crimes (PCSCs) who, due to their criminal history, are stigmatized and occupy the lowest rungs of the status hierarchy in prison and society more broadly. The twin processes of collaborative inquiry and generative dialogue underpin two closely aligned and increasingly influential school leadership development programs, one in Alberta, Canada, and the other in New South Wales, Australia. This paper focuses primarily on the Australian program, the character of which has been strongly influenced by its Canadian predecessor. Leadership in Chinese higher education and the influence of sociocultural constructs
Leadership has been increasingly distributed away from formal leaders towards more shared arrangements in Western educational contexts, wherein the vast majority of the existing research literature has been based. There is a dearth of literature on whether leadership strategies that originate in the West could be applied successfully to Asian contexts, especially in relation to China. Uplifting leadership for real school improvement—The North Coast Initiative for School Improvement
This paper reports on a preliminary Australian adoption and adaptation, in the North Coast region of New South Wales, Australia, of the Townsend and Adams’ model of leadership growth for school improvement in Alberta. The Australian adaptation of this Alberta model has been named the North Coast Initiative for School Improvement (NCISI). The participants comprise nine university academics and almost one hundred regional school leaders. Leadership…
