Horizontal Participatory Planning in Prostate Cancer Prevention
We examined the Mississippi Prostrate Cancer Project (MPCP) using a 12-point assessment tool organized within three conceptual elements: stakeholder participation, cultural and structural relationships, and partnership synergy. A prevention program that promotes attitudinal and behavioral change has been repeatedly recommended as an effective measure for community prevention and control of HIV/AIDS. Formative Evaluation of a Men’s Health Center
We describe an innovative approach for evaluating a men’s health center. Using observation and interview, we assessed patient flow, referral patterns, patient satisfaction, and perceptions of the services’ usefulness. Student assistants designed evaluation tools, hired and trained research assistants, supervised data collection, interacted with city and center officials, analyzed data, and drafted a report.
