Parallels are demonstrated between changes in Swedish attitudes toward peace and war, reflected in the image of the `war-hero', Karl XII, and the increasing peacefulness of Swedish society. In this article, Sweden's cultural evolution from bellicosity to pacifism is analyzed by applying psychological principles to historical phenomena. The factors of reward and punishment in war preparations and the initiation of war are explored. Three dimensions in the provision of reward and punishment are specified: the status dimension, the temporal dimension, and the probability of positive or aversive consequences. Relationships between parental input frequencies and children's language acquisition
To evaluate Brown's assertion that frequency of input is not a significant variable in language acquisition, some of Brown's data were reanalysed. The data pertaining to Adam, Eve, Sarah and their parents were predominantly obtained from Brown's (1973) book and were supplemented from the transcripts. Quantitative analysis of writing styles
It was attempted to analyse objectively the written style of different authors. Nineteen style variables were defined and the frequency of occurrence of these variables in samples of 1000 words each was counted. The Chi-square method was employed to evaluate the significance of differences found between authors and between samples of the same author.
