In many countries, attempts to suppress scientists as public experts have become more prevalent. In democratic countries, environmental scientists have been a particular focus of control. This article looks at structures and mechanisms of suppression of government researchers. Tässä tutkimuksessa selvitämme suomalaisten luottamusta instituutioihin, asiantuntijoihin ja uutismediaan koronakriisin käsittelyssä sekä yksilön vapauteen ja vastuuseen liittyviä asenteita huhtikuussa ja kesäkuussa 2020. Tulosten mukaan suomalaiset luottivat varsin vahvasti hallitukseen, viranomaisiin sekä THL:n ja yliopistojen tutkijoihin kriisin käsittelyssä. Public perception of evolution and the rise of evolutionary psychology in Finland
In this paper we analyse the media debate in Finland that began after the publication in Science of a survey on the public acceptance of evolution. According to the results Finland ranked 17th among 34 countries. This paper is concerned with representations of the human genome and medical applications of modern biotechnology in Finnish television news. The main focus is on the way that news stories are framed by various linguistic and visual means and on how scientists appearing in the news are positioned.
