A 23-Year Retrospective Blind Check of Accuracy of the Copenhagen Radiocarbon Dating System

The Eem Stable Isotope Record along the GRIP Ice Core and Its Interpretation
A 3029-m-long deep ice core extending nearly to bedrock has been drilled at the very top of the Greenland ice sheet (Summit) by the Greenland Ice-core Project (GRIP), an international European joint effort organized by the European Science Foundation. Age and diet of the mummified Eskimos from Qilakitsoq
By means of C-14 measurements, six samples from the mummies found at Qilakitsoq have been dated to the period AD 1460-1510, with a mean close to AD 1470. Combined C-13 and C-14 analyses of tissue from the four-year-old boy in Grave I suggest that 75 ± 7% of his diet consisted of marine food components, while the remaining 25 % were of terrestrial origin

Ice-Core Dating of the Pleistocene/Holocene Boundary Applied to a Calibration of the 14 C Time Scale
Seasonal variations in 18 O content, in acidity, and in dust content have been used to count annual layers in the Dye 3 deep ice core back to the Late Glacial. In this way the Pleistocene/Holocene boundary has been absolutely dated to 8770 BC with an estimated error limit of ± 150 years. Stable Nitrogen Isotope Ratios of Bone Collagen Reflect Marine and Terrestrial Components of Prehistoric Human Diet
The δ 15 N values of bone collagen from Eskimos and from Northwest Coast Indians dependent on salmon fishing are about 10 per mil more positive than those from agriculturalists in historic times. Among prehistoric humans, two groups dependent on marine food sources show bone collagen δ 15 N values that are 4 to 6 per mil more positive than those from two agricultural groups. 14 C activities of decadal samples from beech trees growing under extreme calcareous conditions were compared to 14 C activities of decadal samples of the same age from a beech tree growing in a normal mold soil in order to see whether part of the carbon assimilated during photosynthesis might originate from 14 C-deficient carbonates in the soil.
