  • Outcomes of a Small Group Educational Intervention for Urinary Incontinence

Open Access•Stephanie L Mcfall, Adeline M Yerkes et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Aging and Health•2000•Citada por: 1

Since most cancer is treated in the local community, the judgments of primary care physicians about treatment of breast cancer are important. This study examined physician and practice characteristics associated with physician judgments about the treatment of Stage I and Stage II breast cancer. Data are combined from samples of 3,436 physicians: physicians affiliated with hospitals participating in the Community Clinical Oncology Program (CCOP) a…

  • Health Behavior Changes Through Television

Brian R Flay, Stephanie L Mcfall et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Health and Social…•1993•Citada por: 1

We assess the role played by two types of self-selection in accounting for the influence of a television series on smoking cessation. De facto selection is based on respondents' regular channel viewing habits that can expose them to the series. Motivated self-selection takes place when viewers deliberately select to watch television programming because it meets their desire to quit smoking. Self-selection also can be viewed as a methodological ar…

Baila Miller, Stephanie L Mcfall et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Health and Social…•1991•Citada por: 11

We used a national longitudinal probability sample of frail older persons and their caregivers to examine three questions: 1) What are the probabilities of transition to use of formal helpers over a two-year period? 2) What is the role of predisposing, enabling, older person's need, and caregiver's need variables in changes in the use of formal helpers? 3) Do determinants of change in the use of formal helpers vary by level of caregiver's burden?…

American psychiatry and medicine stem from disparate scientific/philosophical roots. A review of events leading to the establishment of psychiatry as a medical sp…
