The Emin Pasha Relief Expedition (1887–1889)
This research note investigates the impact of disease and hygiene on the lives and efficiency of the participants of the Emin Pasha Relief Expedition to Africa (1887-1889) led by Henry M. Stanley. No systematic analysis of this problem can be found in the existing numerous monographs dealing with the history of the expedition. Yet the importance of such analysis cannot be underestimated if the frustrations are to be fully understood
