Building Resilience in Global Tourism
The primary perspective of this study is the global tourism industry (GTI) as an interconnected supply chain network, encompassing both tourism firms (e.g., hotels, airlines, and operators) and destinations (e.g., local communities and ecosystems). This industry‐level focus allows for analyzing resilience indicators that bridge firm‐specific capabilities with destination‐wide vulnerabilities, rather than isolating one over the other. Using a mixe…
The unexpected consequences of engaging tourists in destination social responsibility through check-out-charity
This study investigates the effectiveness of check-out charity (COC) campaigns, a fundraising strategy where customers donate at the point of sale, as a method for promoting destination social responsibility (DSR) in tourist destinations. Employing interviews, polls, and case studies in Alps ski resorts, it explores whether tourists perceive donations to local projects as a means of participating in DSR, and the impact on their attitudes towards …

The dark side of convenience
Purpose Food delivery apps (FDAs) have altered people's eating behaviour. The convenience of FDAs may cause consumers to order more food than people's level of hunger warrants, leading to food waste. Food waste is a grave societal problem, which, the authors argue, represents the dark side of FDAs. However, the tendency of consumers to order more food than required, or to engage in food over-ordering behaviour, has remained under-explored in the …
Seeing history come to life with augmented reality
This study investigates whether AR innovations will positively contribute to the visiting intentions of young people. We collected data from 402 Gen Z participants in the museum at Göbeklitepe, one of the first human settlements in Turkey. Study results suggest that visual appeal and enjoyment affect AR technology and that enjoyment and escapism affect revisit intention. In addition, AR had a mediating effect between the enjoyment experience and …

Motivations, self-congruity and restaurant innovativeness as antecedents of a creative-food tourism experience
Purpose This study aims to analyze the drivers of a creative food tourism experience (CFTE) and its effect on the tourists' perceived authenticity and satisfaction. Specifically, this study captures the importance to explain a CFTE of two sets of stimuli: internal stimuli, including push motivations for food travel (i.e. emotional, cultural and social) and the tourist self-congruity (i.e. actual and ideal) with the chosen food establishment; and …
