The argument put forth in this paper is that Sigmund Freud's psychoanalytic theories were pseudoscientific and philosophical rather than empirical. Several examples are given to support this conclusion. It is further argued that Freud and his theories should be completely expurgated from the field and not taught in universities

Whistling
The behavior and features of whistlers has been overlooked as an object of study. In this study a brief survey was distributed asking for subjects’ ages, gender, ability to whistle, and the frequency of their whistling. It was found that males reported whistling more often than females, and that frequency of whistling diminishes with age for females, but not for males. Keywords: whistlerswhistlinggender differences

The target population for this study was 1662 physicians who accepted at least one locum tenens assignment. Response rate for the 50-item questionnaire was 47 percent. Copycat crimes have traditionally proven to be hard to both identify and analyze, although it has long been known that they occur. The present study analyzed the copycat crimes that followed the Columbine massacre of 1999 in light of fad theory and found that a copycat crime is, essentially, a fad. Sensitivity of the 16 PF Motivational Distortion Scale to Response Bias
The shortened versions of the 16 PF (Forms C or D) were given to 227 college students (who took Form D twice), 33 prisoners (who took Forms C and D), and 95 substance abusers (who took Form C twice). All were asked to answer honestly, then retake these tests to appear in a better light. Significant differences in Motivational Distortion scores were found between test and retest in each group

The 16 PF was administered to players of the game and the years of playing the game was correlated with scores on antisocial behavior. Aggression in a Prison Setting as a Function of Lunar Phases
Previous studies of the possible effects of the moon's phases upon human behavior initially yielded contradictory results and later more consistently negative results. The present study capitalized on a captive deviant sample prone to aggression, one of the earlier targeted behaviors. A Pearson correlation between number of reported incidents in a Texas prison and the amount of lunar luminosity (lunar phases) yielded no significant correlation

This study combined an instrumental variable approach with a quasi-experimental design to isolate a naturally occurring, behavioral media effect. The data included measures of real-world earthquake severity, media coverage, and subsequent relief donations for 22 foreign earthquakes. Characterization of digital dermatoglyphic features in Salazar Valley
Digital dermatoglyphics of a sample from the Basque Valley of Salazar, situated in the West of the Pyrenees, were analysed. The results showed bimanual differences in both sexes, and also sexual differences for both hands. The comparative study with other Basque valleys showed that, in spite of their supposed common origin, the geographic barriers and the isolation have generated a genetic/dermatoglyphic and linguistic differentiation

Correspondence analysis of digital pattern types in Basque valleys
Fingers pattern types of a sample of 834 unrelated individuals (353 males and 481 females) from the Biscaian Basque valleys of Uribe, Gernika, Markina, Arratia and Durango were subjected to correspondence analysis. The results show that there are different local subpopulations with regard to these dermatoglyphic traits. The importance of whorls in the separation of these populations is observed. A Quantitative, Nonreactive Study of Mass Behavior with Emphasis on the Cinema as Behavioral Catalyst
The quantification of several fads is reported. Quantifying data through use of an unobtrusive method demonstrated that fads can be objectively studied as examples of mass behavior. It was also noted that a fad is qualitatively different from a panic or a fashion. Generalizations of fads were noted. Implications of the findings were discussed, especially as they relate to news bias and the social/political fields

The effects of mental age, intelligence, and vocabulary on the ability to recognize various criteria of classification were studied with 400 boys and girls ages 8 through 11. In all age groups the highest scores were on one-criterion subtests, and within the age groups studied the age factor was nonsignificant for one criterion.
