A model of authoritarianism on a group level of analysis based on Duckitt's concept of authoritarianism is presented. This conceptualization is called group authoritarianism (GA), which is defined as the belief about the appropriate relationship that should exist between groups and their individual members. Role of Perceived Importance in Intergroup Contact
Furthering G. W. Allport's contentions for optimal contact, the authors introduce a new construct: the perceived importance of contact. They propose that perceived importance is the best proximal predictor of contact's reduction of prejudice. This article explores the connections between prejudice and specific attitudes toward acculturation in Germany. Results of surveys confirm the hypothesis that prejudice is related to ideologies of assimilation and segregation among majority‐ group members. This study investigated the link between the Type A coronary‐prone behavior pattern and attainment of success in an academic setting. First semester college freshmen were administered 3 sets of questionnaires during the course of the fall semester that were designed to assess academic activities, outside responsibilities, and importance of academic success. Social Desirability Ratings of MMPI Items as Related to Position of First Person Pronouns
This study focused on the position of first person pronouns in personality items of the MMPI and their social desirability ratings. Items beginning with first person pronouns received more favorable ratings by different groups of judges than items having a first person pronoun other than in the first position in the sentence. TWO experiments were performed in order to determine whether readiness to accept deviant labels, as measured by acquiescence set, interacts with type of schizophrenia (process vs. reactive) to influence level of pathology.
