  • Altering the Shape of Punishment Distributions Affects Decision Making in a Modified Iowa Gambling Task

    Open Access•Corrine J Seeley, Joshua G A Cashaback et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Behavioral Decision…•2013•Referencias: 6

Neuroeconomics research has shown that preference for gambling is altered by the statistical moments (mean, variance, and skew) of reward and punishment distributions. Although it has been shown that altered means can affect feedback‐based decision making tasks, little is known if the variance and skew will have an effect on these tasks. To investigate, we systematically controlled the variance (high, medium, and low) and skew (negative, zero, an…

  • The Typical Dreams of Canadian University Students

Torben Nielsen, Tore A Nielsen et al.•ARTICLE•Dreaming•2003•Citada por: 40•Referencias: 4

To investigate the dimensional structure of dreams, the Typical Dreams Questionnaire (TDQ) was administered to 1181 first-year University students in three Canadian cities. A profile of themes was found that varied little by age, gender or region; however, differences that were identified could be interpreted as due to developmental milestones, personality attributes or sociocultural factors. Factor analysis produced a solution consisting of 16 c…

  • Alexithymia and Impoverished Dream Content

    James D A Parker, Tonya M Bauermann et al.•ARTICLE•Psychosomatic Medicine•2000

OBJECTIVE: Despite the repeated suggestion in the literature of an association between impoverished dream processes and alexithymia, little systematic research has been conducted. METHODS: Eight nonclinical adults scoring in the alexithymia range and eight nonclinical adults scoring in the nonalexithymia range on a measure of alexithymia were awakened for dream reports during their second, third, and fourth rapid eye movement periods on the secon…

  • Interhemispheric Transfer Deficit in Alexithymia

    James D A Parker, Michelle L Keightley et al.•ARTICLE•Psychosomatic Medicine•1999

OBJECTIVE: Previous research has demonstrated an association between alexithymia and a deficit in interhemispheric communication in Vietnam combat veterans with posttraumatic stress disorder. The purpose of this study was to evaluate this association in a nonclinical sample. METHODS: The efficiency of interhemispheric transfer was assessed in 14 alexithymic and 15 nonalexithymic right-handed, male, undergraduate university students using a tactil…
