A Figurine Wearing a Sleeveless Coat from Sandy, Bedfordshire
In 2018, the AOC Archaeology Group unearthed a unique Roman figurine in Sandy, Bedfordshire, likely an offering in a domestic shrine or lararium . The figurine features a distinctive Gallic cloak, similar to those found on copper-alloy figurines in Trier and Cambridgeshire and on numerous relief sculptures. A New Corpus of Roman Coins from England and Wales. An Overview of the Evidence and Analysis of the Data
This paper considers a new corpus of 490,154 Roman coins (site finds) which have been recorded from England and Wales. The corpus provides British and regional means to aid in the preparation of coin reports in line with Historic England guidelines, along with spatial data providing new opportunities for research. Over 15,000 Roman coins from Hampshire have been recorded by the Portable Antiquities Scheme (PAS) since its inception in 1997. This article builds on recent research on Roman coins and hoards in Wiltshire, Hampshire and Dorset. The pragmatics of verbal parody
In this paper, we develop a model of verbal parody based on the view that parody is a human behavior. We argue that verbal parody involves a highly situated, intentional and conventional expressive made up of four essential acts: (1) the intentional re-presentation of the object of parody, (2) the flaunting of the verbal re-presentation, (3) the critical act, and (4) the comic act.
