Deriving OV Word Order in Lɔma
Lɔma is a Mande language of West Africa spoken in Guinea and Liberia. The Mande languages are known for the typologically unique SOVX word order. Working within an Antisymmetric framework, we argue that underlyingly the Lɔma verb phrase is head-initial and that its surface OV word order is derived via leftward movement into a Case-licensing position. Birth of a Nation, The
The Birth of a Nation was a silent film released in 1915, applauded at the time as a masterpiece. However, the film was a racially charged propaganda film that perpetuated the “Lost Cause” ideology of the Civil War. Within the social milieu it sparked both protests, from the NAACP, and approval from the larger white community. The film left a lasting legacy on the film industry and its racist portrayal of African Americans.

This chapter describes the contours of epistemological anxiety, exploring why and how such anxiety manifests among millennial students who study comparative theology. This essay situates recent calls for a return to the organizational form of the party by Bruno Bosteels and Jodi Dean in the current historical conjuncture. This conjuncture is described as an "age of riots"; this age, in turn, is defined both by a global capitalist crisis and an emergent "politics of the street." In this article we examine diminutive formation in Judeo-Spanish, which has not been treated before in the generative literature. The distribution of diminutive suffixes is shown to be predictable based on an interaction of morphological and phonological properties, which is a recognized hallmark of diminutive formation in Spanish more generally.
