    This paper considers Mary Midgley's views on evolution, especially as developed in her book Evolution as a Religion.     This paper examines the relationship between morality and reasoning in a general sense. Following a broadly Aristotelian framework, it is shown that reasoning well about morality requires good character and a grounding in virtue and experience.
