A Systematic Review of Secondary Traumatic Stress in School Personnel
Bullying Prevention in Schools
Since bullying is an ecological and systemic phenomenon that occurs in multiple contexts with multiple actors, it makes sense to consider the perceptions of multiple stakeholders and their relationships with one another and in relation to bullying prevention in schools. Using a non-probability, purposive sample, this study examined the perspectives of 45 school stakeholders, namely, principals, school social workers, bus drivers, and parents from…
How previously detained youths perceive “mental health” and “counseling”
Participants' Perspectives of a Worksite Wellness Program Using an Outcome-Based Contingency Approach
Worksite wellness programs in the U.S. are increasingly common. Social workers in healthcare and administration should familiarize themselves with the various wellness programs and the impact they have on workers and organizations. This study examined a worksite wellness outcome-based contingency approach (WWOCA). This approach bases individual employee health insurance discounts on each participant achieving biometric goals. A mixed-method expla…
The potential value of priority-setting methods in public health investment decisions
This paper reports on an action-oriented research study providing decision support to three local authorities in England on the prioritisation of public health investment and disinvestment decisions. We adopted a political science perspective, using the multiple streams framework to investigate the use of prioritisation tools in public health spending decisions at a time of severe financial constraints. The challenges and implications of their po…
Facilitative and rememberative
The traditional approaches to encourage gamers to exercise have been two-fold: incorporating in-game incentives and designing games that are based on exercise. We discuss the drawbacks of these approaches and introduce two new design constructs: facilitative and rememberative. A facilitative design introduces external interaction mechanisms that reward physical exertion with an increase of control over the utility and entertainment value of a gam…
Connection to mental health care upon community reentry for detained youth
Utilizing mental health care services can be a daunting process, particularly for youth upon community reentry from detention. The current study illustrates that individual, family-specific and systemic issues interact to facilitate or impair mental health care utilization. As such, in order to aid youth in accessing mental health care at detention release, systemic coordination efforts are necessary. The systematic coordination among caregivers,…

Flit-gun sprayer characteristics
Six flit-gun sprayers were tested for possible use in mosquito adulticide programs where inexpensive nonmotorized application technology may be required. An analysis of variance for differences in droplets or = 48 μ, droplets/cm2, volume median diameters, and mosquito mortality is provided. As shown by these data, good results can be achieved with this equipment
Risks entailed in teenage intoxication as perceived by junior and senior high school students
The Concept of Market Components and the Spatial Organization of Periodic Markets
This paper develops the concept of market components and discusses the potential advantages of such a concept for studying different market systems including periodic and permanent markets. The assignment algorithm and the bottleneck assignment algorithm are modified and used to test this concept; the data employed are for periodic market systems in Southern Morocco
The Application of a p-Median Algorithm to the Identification of Nodal Hierarchies and Growth Centers
