  • The role of trust as the facilitator and contingency factor in the adoption of digital healthcare services

Open Access•Phatthira Wissawaswaengsuk, Prashant Kumar et al.•ARTICLE•Computers in Human Behavior•2025

This article revisits the effect of trust in digital healthcare services, specifically telemedicine, as a context of heightened privacy risks. It posits that trust in a telemedicine service provider causes potential users of the telemedicine service to have confidence in the service provider, and empowers them to take responsibility for their own service adoption decision. Drawing on both the unified theory of acceptance and use of the technology…

  • How meaningless and substantive green claims jointly determine product environmental perceptions

Open Access•Michael Polonsky, Jeffrey Rotman et al.•ARTICLE•International Journal of…•2025

This research examines how consumers perceive products in the presence (and absence) of substantive attribute information and ‘meaningless’ claims. Meaningless claims are product information devoid of any factual, substantive, objective, or concrete detail, which consumers may nonetheless ‘believe’ is a useful claim and on which they base their perceptions. Across three experiments we predict and find that meaningless claims of being ‘friendly to…

  • Exploring Climate and Air Pollution Mitigating Benefits of Urban Parks in Sao Paulo Through a Pollution Sensor Network

Open Access•Paul Connerton, Thiago Nogueira et al.•ARTICLE•International Journal of…•2025

Ambient air pollution is the most important environmental factor impacting human health. Urban landscapes present unique air quality challenges, which are compounded by climate change adaptation challenges, as air pollutants can also be affected by the urban heat island effect, amplifying the deleterious effects on health. Nature-based solutions have shown potential for alleviating environmental stressors, including air pollution and heat wave ab…

  • Urban heat mitigation by green and blue infrastructure

    Open Access•Prashant Kumar, Sisay E Debele et al.•ARTICLE•The Innovation•2024

The combination of urbanization and global warming leads to urban overheating and compounds the frequency and intensity of extreme heat events due to climate change. Yet, the risk of urban overheating can be mitigated by urban green-blue-grey infrastructure (GBGI), such as parks, wetlands, and engineered greening, which have the potential to effectively reduce summer air temperatures. Despite many reviews, the evidence bases on quantified GBGI co…

  • Innovation dynamics within the entrepreneurial ecosystem

Open Access•Rishi Kant Kumar, Srinivas Subbarao Pasumarti et al.•ARTICLE•Humanities and Social Sciences…•2024

Entrepreneurial ecosystems (EEs) delineate concepts from varied streams of literature originating from multiple stakeholders and are diagnosed by different levels of analysis. Taking up a sample of 392 articles, this study examines how innovation fosters the emergence of self-operative and self-corrective entrepreneurial ecosystems in the wake of automatic market disruptions. It also finds that measures lending vitality and sustainability to econ…

  • Assessing demographic and socioeconomic susceptibilities to heatwaves in the Southeastern United Kingdom

Open Access•Jeetendra Sahani, Prashant Kumar et al.•ARTICLE•Sustainable Cities and Society•2024

  • A synergistic ozone-climate control to address emerging ozone pollution challenges

Open Access•Xiaopu Lyu, Ke Li et al.•ARTICLE•One Earth•2023

Tropospheric ozone threatens human health and crop yields, exacerbates global warming, and fundamentally changes atmospheric chemistry. Evidence has pointed toward widespread ozone increases in the troposphere, and particularly surface ozone is chemically complex and difficult to abate. Despite past successes in some regions, a solution to new challenges of ozone pollution in a warming climate remains unexplored. In this perspective, by compiling…

The use of Nature-based Solutions (NBS), designed and implemented with participatory approaches, is rapidly increasing. Much use is being made of the Living Lab (LL) concept to co-create innovative NBS with stakeholders in a certain societal and environmental, real-life context. Most of the current research revolves around urban LLs, thus overlooking specificities of rural areas. Furthermore, the influence of the context itself on co-creation pro…

  • Quantifying co-benefits and disbenefits of Nature-based Solutions targeting Disaster Risk Reduction

Open Access•Joy Ommer, Edoardo Bucchignani et al.•ARTICLE•International Journal of Disaster…•2022

Nature-based Solutions function (NBS) as an umbrella concept for ecosystem-based approaches that are an alternative to traditional engineering solutions for Disaster Risk Reduction. Their rising popularity is explained partly by their entailing additional benefits (so-called co-benefits) for the environment, society, and economy. The few existing frameworks for assessing co-benefits are lacking guidance on co-benefit pre-assessment that is requir…

  • Heat risk of mortality in two different regions of the United Kingdom

Open Access•Jeetendra Sahani, Prashant Kumar et al.•ARTICLE•Sustainable Cities and Society•2022

Heatwaves pose a protracted health risk depending on its intensity and exposure time. Not only cities but countryside areas are also exposed to risk of summertime heat which has not been recently updated at the bucolic scale. This study aims to associate temperature and mortality and explore its temporal variation. A Poisson regression model combined with a distributed lag non-linear model was applied over daily mortality and maximum temperature …

We propose a calibration-free algorithm for retrieval of elemental concentrations using laser-induced breakdown spectroscopy. This is a simple and improved version of other ratio-based algorithms as it needs only one trial parameter to estimate all other concentrations. The present algorithm has been used to estimate the composition of a brass sample, and the results agree within 1% with electron probe microanalyzer measurements

  • The nexus between air pollution, green infrastructure and human health

Open Access•Prashant Kumar, Angela Druckman et al.•ARTICLE•Environment International•2019

Cities are constantly evolving and so are the living conditions within and between them. Rapid urbanization and the ever-growing need for housing have turned large areas of many cities into concrete landscapes that lack greenery. Green infrastructure can support human health, provide socio-economic and environmental benefits, and bring color to an otherwise grey urban landscape. Sometimes, benefits come with downsides in relation to its impact on…

  • The influence of the vegetation cycle on the mitigation of air pollution by a deciduous roadside hedge

Open Access•Thor-Bjørn Ottosen, Prashant Kumar•ARTICLE•Sustainable Cities and Society•2020

Here, we measure a range of air pollutants in front and behind a hedge during the dormancy, greenup and part of the maturity vegetation cycle along with auxiliary variables. This is the first time a long time-series measuring multiple pollutants on both sides of a hedge is presented. This time-series allows assessing the influence of the annual vegetation cycl…
