In Talking about , Unnsteinsson defends an intentionalist theory of reference by arguing that confused referential intentions degrade reference. Central to this project is a “belief model” of both identity confusion and unconfused thought. We offer an interpretation of the mental files framework that eliminates the metaphor of files, information being contained in files, etc . The guiding question is whether, once we move beyond the metaphors, there is any theoretical role for files. We claim not. On the traditional relationalist conception of singular thought, a thought has singular content when it is based on an ‘information relation’ to its object. Identifying Barriers and Facilitators to Nutrition and Physical Activity among Public Housing Residents Using Photovoice
Findings revealed multiple facilitators and barriers to healthy eating, physical activity, and weight management among public housing residents with additional factors influencing health within the housing development. Photovoice was a feasible method to engage community members in discussions and may be useful to inform multilevel interventions
Changing the housing environment to reduce obesity in public housing residents
These data provide initial support for the idea that interventions targeting the environment of public housing developments can assist residents to change unhealthy behaviors and can possibly reduce the high levels of chronic disease among public housing residents
The effect of transcendental meditation on self-efficacy, perceived stress, and quality of life in mothers in Uganda
Vulnerable women living in poverty in Uganda, who are primarily single, illiterate mothers, face high levels of physical and psychological stress. Our study assessed the impact of the Transcendental Meditation® (TM®) technique on self-efficacy, perceived stress, and mental and physical quality of life of these women. This single-blind controlled study involved 81 women who were assigned to either practice of the Transcendental Meditation program …

Translation of research to practice often needs intermediaries to help the process occur. Our Prevention Research Center has identified a total of 89 residents of public housing in the last 11 years who have been working in the Resident Health Advocate (RHA) program to engage residents in improving their own and other residents' health status by becoming trained in skills needed by community health workers.
