  • In Search of the Real/Ideal Beauty

    Nancy Lin•ARTICLE•Archives of Asian Art•2025

In this paper I investigate why Mei Lanfang (1894–1961), the male performer of female characters in Peking opera, and images of modern Chinese beauties were featured in the prolific career of the neo-traditional Korean painter Kim Eunho (1892–1979) both during the colonial period in the 1920s and 1930s and in the postwar period in the 1960s and 1970s. • Engaging with discursive complexities in mental health accessibility

    Open Access•Nancy Lin•ARTICLE•Sociology of Health & Illness•2025

The psychosocial needs of people with acquired brain injury (ABI) have been neglected based on ableist assumptions of incapability to participate in mental health treatment. Although people without disabilities benefit from evidence-based mental health supports, these treatments remain inaccessible for those with disabilities after ABI. Discursive simplifications used in dominant conceptualisations of health and disability may maintain this inacc…

Multiple stakeholders are impacted by the quality and efficacy of MSW education and training, the most important of which are the clients and communities whom social workers serve. Unfortunately, a persistent gap between MSW education and translation and applicability into practice post-graduation has been identified. This article examines the deployment of the travelling loan exhibition, 5,000 Years of Korean Art, as an exercise in cultural diplomacy during the era of international blockbuster exhibitions and its subsequent function in the construction of a master narrative of Korean art. Sent abroad during a period of intense domestic political upheaval, the exhibition emerged from a specific political and cultural moment and demonstrated the organizers’ int…
