The Roman Glass from Aldborough ( Isurium Brigantum ), North Yorkshire
This paper presents a comprehensive catalogue and review of the Roman glass from the Roma town of Isurium Brigantum (Aldborough, North Yorkshire). It includes the material found in work on the site in the 19th century as well as that from a variety of excavations down to the 1960s. Excavations on the Roman Fort at Abergavenny, Orchard Site, 1972–73
Excavations revealed important elements of a pre-Flavian fort, including a well-preserved clay and turf rampart, barrack blocks and a granary. A good assemblage of contemporary pottery, metalwork and glass was associated with these levels. The results are assessed with a discussion of previous excavations in Abergavenny.
