    The 35 wooden model boats found in Tutankhamun's tomb are important in that they represent the last large group of model boats which has survived from Ancient Egypt and are the only complete group to have survived from the 18th Dynasty. They are, therefore, our main evidence 'in the round' for vessels of that period.     The excavation and recovery of plant remains from the Late Bronze Age shipwreck at Ulu Burun provides direct evidence of traded organic goods in the eastern Mediterranean. Archaeobotanical studies contribute to a better understanding of economic systems by identifying seaborne cargoes that leave few traces on land but are preserved on shipwreck sites

    As A. B. Lloyd points out, the passage from Herodotus which includes this sentence is the most important non-Egyptian commentary on Ancient Egyptian shipbuilding. In the years following the discovery of the Dynasty IV ships buried beside Khufu's pyramid at Giza ( c. 2500 B.C.), J. S. Morrison suggested a change in the translation of the word (⋯ν)επ⋯κτωσαν. Traditionally, and in Lloyd's commentary, the verb ⋯μπακτ⋯ω has been interpreted as meaning…
