This analysis focuses on mothers of young children and considers how aspects of work–to–family strain differ for single and couple mothers. A study of criminal activity of heroin addicts enrolled in the methadone treatment program in Atlanta, Georgia is presented. 118 heroin addicts with criminal records in a methadone maintenance and detoxification program were studied. Comparison of the preaddiction and postaddiction criminal rates showed no changes for thefts or violent crimes. In comparing the year prior to treatment versus the time while in the treatment, no changes in rates of …
