    Four explanations have been developed to explain women's low wage earnings. Human capital and sex-role socialization theories provide individualistic explanation, while dual labor and split labor market analyses focus on labor market segmentation.     We investigate the utility of two divergent conceptualizations of social stratification as they apply to symptoms of stress.
