The Politicization of Sufism in Iraq’s Transition from Baʿthist Quasi-Secular Nationalism to Competing Sect-Centric Visions of National Unity
Since the 1980s, Iraq has witnessed an escalating politicization of Islam under Ṣaddām Ḥusayn’s Baʿth regime. Poulton, Cheshire
This article presents the results of the radiocarbon dating programme and interpretation of a medieval chapel and graveyard in Poulton, Cheshire. The structure was associated with a lost Cistercian Abbey of 12th-13th-century date, which was relocated to Staffordshire after c. 60 years. Extensive excavation has revealed a minimum of 783 interments, interpreted as the remains of the farming community who worked the land after the monks’ departure. …

In contrast to Sunnī and Shīʿī communities, Ibāḍīs in Oman refrain from any pompous celebration of the Prophetic birthday. This paper introduces a statistical method to identify spectral signatures of buried archaeological remains and distinguish them from spectra of the background soil in the visible to near infrared region. Preliminary Results of a Pilot Program on Depression in Patients with Congestive Heart Failure
While the sample size is too small to warrant conclusions, these preliminary results suggest that assessment of depression would be worthwhile for patients diagnosed with congestive heart failure. 32 out of 54 patients with congestive heart failure scored positive for depression.
