Open Access•Xin Sun, Qirui Zhou et al.•ARTICLE•BMC Medical Education•2026

BACKGROUND: Teaching postoperative follow-up for renal cell carcinoma (RCC) is challenging during brief urology rotations. We evaluated a structured module based on a simplified risk model (IMDB: venous invasion, tumor size ≥ 7 cm, systemic symptoms, renal sinus fat invasion) to improve residents' knowledge and clinical decision-making. METHODS: Forty residents who completed the 8-10 h module (2022-2025) were enrolled in this retrospective pre-po…

  • Multi-objective optimization model for dynamic airspace allocation of urban drones in medical emergency delivery

Open Access•Yao Zhu, Xin Sun et al.•ARTICLE•Frontiers in Public Health•2026

Introduction Urban emergency delivery systems face serious challenges in dealing with traffic congestion, structural limitations, and accessibility challenges that confront traditional ground-based emergency medical services. This study proposes a novel multi-objective optimization approach to the dynamic airspace allocation for unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) in urban emergency environments. Methods The approach simultaneously optimizes four com…

Background 1,1-Dichloroethylene (1,1-DCE) is a widely used chlorinated solvent with known hepatotoxicity in animals, but human acute poisoning data are scarce. This study summarizes clinical features and multi-organ injury in acute 1,1-DCE poisoning. Methods A retrospective case series of 13 patients with single occupational exposure was conducted. Clinical data, laboratory parameters (liver, renal, coagulation, hematologic, and cardiac markers),…

  • Understanding trust toward human versus AI-generated health information through behavioral and physiological sensing

Open Access•Xin Sun, Rongjun Ma et al.•ARTICLE•International Journal of…•2026

As AI-generated health information proliferates online and becomes increasingly indistinguishable from human-sourced information, it becomes critical to understand how people trust and label such content, especially when the information is inaccurate. We conducted two complementary studies: (1) a mixed-methods survey (N=142) employing a 2 (source: Human vs. LLM) × 2 (label: Human vs. AI) × 3 (type: General, Symptom, Treatment) design, and (2) a w…

Muhammad Usman, Jin Cheng et al.•ARTICLE•International Journal of Conflict…•2026

Purpose The purpose of this study is to examine the supervisor-level antecedents of downward bullying (destructive dyadic conflict) in workplace settings. Grounded in affective events theory, the authors propose that supervisor job demands trigger workplace frustration, a strong negative emotional response that may drive supervisors to engage in downward bullying. Furthermore, they hypothesize that a supervisor's personality trait – neuroticism –…

  • The Impact of Institutional Pressures on Farmers’ Willingness to Transition to Green Production

    Yike Ma, Xin Sun•ARTICLE•Society & Natural Resources•2026

Promoting farmers’ transition to green production has become a critical issue for advancing green agriculture. Most previous studies have focused on the “efficiency mechanism” in understanding farmers’ transition to green production, which cannot fully explain farmers’ decision-making. From the lens of new institutional theory, this study emphasizes a “legitimacy mechanism.” Using both qualitative and quantitative approaches, this study examines …

  • Large language model-driven analysis of supply risk dynamics in global electric vehicle supply chain

Open Access•Lanxin Zhang, Xin Sun et al.•ARTICLE•Environmental Impact Assessment…•2026•Referencias: 33

Driven by ambitious climate targets, the rapid growth of electric vehicles (EV) is creating complex global supply chains that are increasingly exposed to disruptions. While supply risks, such as political instability and resource scarcity, are widely recognized, systematic assessments of disruption events across the entire EV supply chain remain limited. This study employs a Large language model (LLM) with prompt engineering to identify disruptio…

  • Transboundary trade poses regulatory challenges for EV battery recycling

Open Access•Zhenyu Dong, Xin Sun et al.•ARTICLE•Environmental Research Letters•2025

Governments worldwide are advancing efforts to establish comprehensive regulatory frameworks for the circular economy of electric vehicle batteries. However, current regulations often overlook the impacts of transboundary trade. This article argues that while these cross-border practices may help companies reduce costs and comply with regulatory targets, they pose environmental risks, create regulatory loopholes, and undermine incentives to build…

    Open Access•Fubing Su, Ran Tao et al.•ARTICLE•Political Studies•2011•Citada por: 24•Referencias: 32

Villagers' committee elections in Chinese rural areas highlight the promise as well as the challenge of democratization in a one-party state. Why are there huge regional variations in terms of voter turnout rate? Based on a large survey conducted in 2005, we argue that electoral procedures have played a crucial role in signaling the democratic intent of local governments. Villagers were more responsive to more meaningful elections with higher-qua…

  • Selective Enforcement of Land Regulations

A ‘dual-power structure’ governs the Chinese countryside. Branch committees of the Chinese Communist Party, traditionally the centers of power in the villages, increasingly share their authority with elected villagers' committees. Seeking to illuminate the factors contributing to the division of authority between these ‘two committees’, we view Party branch secretaries and the chairs of villagers' committees as the agents of two distinct principa…

Extant literature on authoritarian legislatures argues that dictators set up quasi-democratic institutions to co-opt opposition and attract investors. We argue that dictators also nurture clientelistic ties with social groups useful to their rule, a previously overlooked function of authoritarian legislatures. Drawing on the case of Chinese local legislatures—namely, the local People's Congress and the local People's Political Consultative Confer…

    Xin Sun•ARTICLE•Problems of Post-Communism•2018•Citada por: 1•Referencias: 9

This article examines how single-party regimes share power among their ruling elites. An examination of land institutions in China suggests that the ruling Party relies on a statist and partially centralized land regime to distribute land development rights (land quotas). This institutional arrangement allows the Party's central elites to use land as patronage to build their clientelistic networks and share power among themselves. This argument i…

Open Access•Shiwei Cui, Haibin Li et al.•ARTICLE•International Journal of…•2014

Etheno-DNA adducts are generated from the metabolism of exogenous carcinogens and endogenous lipid peroxidation. We and others have previously reported that 1,N6-ethenodeoxyadenosine (εdA) and 3,N4-ethenodeoxycytidine (εdC) are present in human urine and can be utilized as biomarkers of oxidative stress. In this study, we report a new ultrasensitive UPLC-ESI-MS/MS method for the analysis of εdA and edC in human urine, capable of detecting 0.5 fmo…

Weiwei Mu, Yan Zhao et al.•ARTICLE•AIDS Care•2015

Due to the success of highly active antiretroviral therapy, more children infected with HIV perinatally are living to adolescence. This brings new challenges on sexual and reproductive health (SRH) needs and psychosocial support specific to adolescents. To improve such efforts on long-term care of this vulnerable population, we assessed SRH and HIV knowledge and perceptions among perinatally HIV-infected adolescents (PHIVA). This descriptive cros…

In this paper we propose a model that supports the emergence of conventions via multi-agent learning in social networks. In our model, individual agents repeatedly interact with their neighbours in a game called Ali Baba and the Thief. An agent learns its strategy to play the game using the learning rule imitate-the-best. We show that some conventions prescribing peaceful behaviours can emerge a er repeated interactions among agents inhabited in …
