  • "Don Quixote" and the War of the Alpujarras: The Historical Debasement of Chivalry as a Correlative to Its Literary Parody

    This article looks at three novels that appropriate the character of Don Quixote as a symbol of Chicano resistance to Anglo American hegemony: Daniel Venegas's Las aventuras de don Chipote, Ron Arias's The Road to Tamazunchale, and Genaro Gonzalez's The Quixote Cult. Tyze goal is in no wag to demonstrate the "influence"of Cervantes on Chicano writers, but rather the opposite: to explore the dimension of Don Quixote that their work has uncovered. …
