Intelligence and family size
IQ data was studied for over a thousand families for both parents and offspring, and also for the non‐reproducing siblings of parents. The inclusion of these siblings allowed the authors to resolve the paradox presented by the failure of the general intelligence level to decline in accord with the large negative correlation (‐0.30) between intelligence and number of children in the family. Social Adjustment and Familial Schema in Japan
Two groups of 25 Japanese male undergraduates with good and poor social adjustment as determined by a questionnaire freely placed figures of a father, a mother, a son, and a daughter on a field. The combined groups placed the son closer to the mother than to the father (p<.01). The results were in contrast to those from an American sample, and indicate that familial schemata are influenced by cultural differences in family structure
Variability in Cognitive Control
Inconsistency in preference behaviour was predicted on the basis of variability in cognitive control. Twenty‐eight undergraduates performed an aesthetic preference task, and were subsequently assessed for intra‐individual variability on the cognitive‐control dimension of breadth of categorization. The results supported the hypothesis at better than the 0·01 level of significance by a one‐tailed test

20 male, Caucasian undergraduates were administered the California F scale of authoritarianism and subsequently asked for their preference between the two major candidates in the 1964 United States presidential election. Splitting the sample at the median F-scale score, it was found that the higher scorers preferred Goldwater over Johnson, while the lower scorers preferred Johnson over Goldwater
