Cross-domain comparison and the politics of difference
This paper makes the case for cross-domain comparison as an undertheorized form of comparative analysis. The units of analysis in such comparisons are not (as in most comparative analysis) predefined units within a domain or system of formally similar yet substantively different categories or entities; they are the domains or systems of categorically organized differences themselves. The Role of School Context on Marijuana Use in Chile
In the Chilean school system, classrooms are stable settings and constitute a closed socialization context. Through multilevel analysis, this article examines the association between classroom composition and students' marijuana consumption. Under the theoretical assumption that social control mechanisms work into social learning peer processes, our results indicate that, as an imposed environment, the classroom may encourage or discourage mariju…

Holocene vegetation, fire and climate history of the Sawtooth Range, central Idaho, USA
The paucity of low- and middle-elevation paleoecologic records in the Northern Rocky Mountains limits our ability to assess current environmental change in light of past conditions. A 10,500-yr-long vegetation, fire and climate history from Lower Decker Lake in the Sawtooth Range provides information from a new region. En este artículo se estudian las patologías en la columna vertebral de dos perros hallados en depósitos rituales del Bronce Inicial (2.300-1.300 cal BC) en el yacimiento de Can Roqueta II (Sabadell, Barcelona).
