This article investigates how care professionals working with older adults in Sweden encounter, reproduce, and challenge sociotechnical imaginaries of a digitalised health and social care system. Drawing on interviews with 20 care professionals, we explore how promissory discourses that frame digitalisation as a solution to demographic and economic crises are taken up at the frontline of care. Despite regular experiences of technological malfunct…

  • Digital literacies among infants and toddlers

Open Access•Elisabeth Sundin, Helena Sandberg et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Early Childhood Literacy•2025

For many children, their home is where they first encounter digital media technologies. The aim of this study is to investigate how children 0 – 3 years old engage in digital media. We address digital literacies as a sociocultural mindset and a toolbox with attention to skills and comprehensions as well as how children express their agency. The overall research question is: What skills, comprehension, and agency children 0 – 3 years old perform a…

  • Children and YouTubers

    Open Access•Fredrika Thelandersson, Carolina Martínez et al.•ARTICLE•Children & Society•2025•Referencias: 30

Recent scholarly attention has focused on YouTubers' advertising practices and their influence on young followers' understanding of commercial content. Although previous studies primarily explore children's advertising literacy, they often treat YouTubers' influencer marketing as a unified phenomenon. This article distinguishes between two types of advertising: sponsored content and merchandise (merch) advertising. Merch advertising is viewed as …

  • Introduction

    Open Access•Anette Grønning, Helena Sandberg•ARTICLE•MedieKultur Journal of media and…•2023•Citada por: 1•Referencias: 4

Just as the title above suggests, it is difficult to address health issues without considering the role of the media and everyday life; the time and space when health is produced and cared for or put at risk and exposed. In the introduction to this special issue, 'Media and health in everyday life', we will discuss the three components of the theme. We will offer some definitions, but also problematise the conceptual underpinnings and highlight t…
