Stable Isotope and Radiocarbon Dating of the Remains of the Medieval Royal House of Aragon (Spain) Shed Light on Their Diets, Life Histories and Identities
The remains of 20 individuals buried in three different pantheons, putatively pertaining to the medieval Royal House of Aragon, were analysed for their isotope ( 14 C, 13 C and 15 N) measurements. The radiocarbon dates and stable isotope data contributed to identifying individual members and, combined with additional osteological and taphonomic information, as well as documentary evidence, provided a fuller picture of the diets and life histories…

This article addresses a controversial debate raised by an asado-party, which was celebrated by the end of 2012 at the former Navy Mechanics School (ESMA), the main clandestine detention centre where almost 5,000 people were held captive and tortured during Argentina’s last dictatorship (1976-1983). Ancient molecular typing depends on DNA survival in archaeological bones. This article provides a critical response to the film Beau Travail (director C. Denis 1998) through close engagement with strands of thought in the queer theory of Judith Butler, in particular the military and masculinity, sadomasochism (SM) subcultures, and ‘heterosexual melancholia’. Reconstructing the population history of Nicaragua by means of mtDNA, Y‐chromosome STRs, and autosomal STR markers
Before the arrival of the Spaniards in Nicaragua, diverse Native American groups inhabited the territory. In colonial times, Native Nicaraguan populations interacted with Europeans and slaves from Africa.
