Nigerian Oil and Exchange Rates
This article assesses the impact of expanding oil revenues on non-oil sectors of the Nigerian economy from 1960 to 1985/6. Emphasis is placed on the effects of exchange rate appreciation during the 1970s on the agricultural, manufacturing and non-traded goods sectors. The analysis is conducted within a Dutch disease context. Two main conclusions are that the decline of Nigerian agriculture during these years can be attributed to a combination of …

Notice of Scottish Coins found near Prestonpans in March 1869
Note of a Gold Brooch of the 13th or 14th century, found in the Water of Ardoch, near Doune Castle
A gold brooch was displayed at the meeting. Although the author was unable to provide much any information about it, he was able to give an account of where it was found. Based on its design, he suggests that it may have been made some time in the thirteenth to sixteenth centuries, possibly for a member of the nobility visiting Doune Castle

Note relating to a Monumental Brass in the Old Church of Ormiston, East Lothian
This article discusses the monumental brass found in the ruined chancel of the kirk at Ormiston. The author uses the form and decoration of the monument to suggest that it was originally made at the end of the sixteenth century. He goes on to discuss the content of the inscription and gives a short history of the Cockburn family, who owned the barony of Ormiston until the eighteenth century.
